Starting from last week the
characters are all in Bilbo's house eating. When they have finished eating they
help by cleaning and putting the dishes away. As they are doing this Bilbo is
yelling at them not to beak anything and they make a song about it, which
Tolkien has included in the story. I know a lot of readers don't like when an
author puts too much detail into a story, but as for me I love it! It just adds
another step into making the story more real. Anyway when the cleaning and
putting a way of the dishes is done they all gather into the living room and
have another song, which tells a story about the dwarf’s old home in the
mountains. When they finish the song they ask Bilbo if he will accompany them
on their quest. Hobbits are known for not going on adventures, but some of
Bilbo's ancestors have been known to go questing even though it is frowned upon
by the Hobbit community. However he seems to take after the other half of his
family, who are known for their quiet nature. But with some persuading they are
able to get him to go on their quest, as a burglar. The next day they head out
on their journey. After a few days they are camping out when they spot a fire
in the distance. As they approach they find a group of trolls and unfortunately
they are captured, but are able to get out of it with a little help from
Gandalf. That is where I am in the book as of right now. I am still finding it
interesting, but am hoping that the story line will pick up soon.
